The SMAR Framework: Your Path to Spiritual Clarity

A natural progression toward experiencing
God's transformative love

Beyond Spiritual Confusion

The SMAR Framework emerged when two spiritual journeys converged, resulting in a process that provides a natural pathway to experiencing God's transformative love. This approach helps people break free from distorted perceptions of God and discover the freedom of being fully known yet fully loved.

As a single mom working full-time as a healthcare worker, I found myself in a very dark season of life. Discovering the SMAR principles and applying them while studying Scripture brought light and hope back into my journey of life. They became a powerful tool in my
healing and transformation.

The Four Elements Working Together

While each component of the SMAR Framework can be practiced individually, they work together synergistically to create lasting transformation. This isn't a rigid system, but a natural rhythm that reflects how we grow in any significant relationship. Throughout this process you'll discover a natural progression that deepens with practice. Each element builds upon the previous one, creating a sustainable cycle of growth and renewal. This cyclical journey allows love to reshape your understanding, heal your heart, and transform your life from the inside out.

SEE: Discover What God Is Truly Like

Seeing is about opening the mind and heart to discern truths about God's love in Scripture. It's the foundation of transformation, as we cannot be changed by a love we haven't yet perceived. The apostle Paul prayed that believers would have "the eyes of your heart enlightened" (Ephesians 1:18, NIV) to comprehend "how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" (Ephesians 3:18, NIV). This vision isn't just intellectual understanding—it's a soul-delighting truth that consumes our whole inner horizon.

Practical Application
Create space to encounter Jesus’s revelation of God in the Gospels, and the broader Scripture narrative. Watch wide-eyed as love, respect, mercy, kindness, compassion, and sympathy pour from Jesus like a refreshing river in a burning desert of brokenness. Seeing that God loves me as I am is freeing. All we need is faith.
Even if we screw up, we know God will always love us. And in
realizing his love for me isn't based on works is amazing. So once
we 'see' how God loves us, his love fills us and that love is
generated out toward others.

MEDITATE: Create Space To Reflect on God's Love

Meditation means setting aside time to reflect thoughtfully on what you've discovered about God's character. In these quiet moments, thoughtful reflection reveals layers of meaning and beauty that transform how we understand God, ourselves, and others. The ancient Hebrew poets and prophets described this process as "chewing" on Scripture or
giving ourselves entirely to reflection on divine realities.

Practical Application
Once you’ve witnessed God’s love in Jesus’ life, dedicate time to reflect deeply on what you’ve discovered. Allow these insights to penetrate beyond intellectual understanding by returning to them repeatedly, perhaps journaling what emerges or expressing your reflections through prayer. Download our Guided Lessons for a step-by-step process.

By reading a section and mulling over it for several days or longer, I would get added understanding each day. And each day the meaning became clearer. It just resonates more. For me, this was the most important principle.

ACCEPT: Receive This Love as Your Own

Acceptance means embracing this love as personally yours—not just an idea but a reality. This profound shift dissolves distorted perceptions of God, transforms negative self- narratives, and reshapes how you see others. As this love takes root, you naturally begin embodying it in all your relationships. Jesus said, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent" (John 6:29, NIV). This 'work' of believing—of personally receiving the truth of God's love-unleashes the powerful, operative energy of divine love in our hearts.

Practical Application
After seeing and meditating on God’s love and what this reveals, take the courageous step of identifying specific lies you’ve believed about God, yourself, or others. Create statements of truth to replace each lie, drawing from what you’ve discovered in the story of Jesus. Download our Guided Lessons for a step-by-step process.

I finished reading your book. It is awesome! It had an effect on
me for sure. I see the benefits of applying this process to my life.

REST: Experience the Peace of Being Fully Known and Fully Loved

Rest in the profound peace of being fully known yet fully loved. Unlike ordinary rest, this is an active, energizing state—a daily rhythm where all aspects of your life are constantly renewed from within. This creates not just momentary relief but a sustainable spirituality that transforms how you navigate all of life. Jesus offered this invitation: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, NIV) This rest is what enables us to live lives of radical love for others, because we're operating from the abundance of God's unconditional love for us.

Practical Application
Practice the transformative rhythm of resting in being fully known yet fully loved by God. Consciously “put your weight down” on the truth of God's love rather than your performance or circumstances. When anxiety, shame, or the drive to earn approval surfaces, gently return to this place of rest. Notice how this foundational peace begins to transform your relationships, work, and inner dialogue without striving. Download our Guided Lessons for a step-by-step process.

Once I understood the Scripture, 'accepting' it was easy and then 'resting' in it became the 'icing on the cake.'

Your Questions Answered

Is this framework only for Christians?
